Lake Bogoria’s geyser and hot springs lie in a volcanic region south of Lake Baringo. This saline, alkaline lake is highly productive with abundant cynobacteria (Arthrospira fusiformis) that attracts large numbers of flamingoes sometimes 1 million at a time. Lake Bogoria also contains the highest concentration of true geysers in Africa. Generally all geyser field sites are located near active volcanic areas. A geyser is a spring which characteristecally sends out a discharge of hot water ejected turbently and is accompanied by steam. The flamingoes use this water to drink and bath.Rift Valley. Kenya.
