28 ton tanks, called General Grants by our forces in the Middle East who are using numbers of them in the battle for Egypt, are now being turned out in mass production by the Chrysler Corporation’s tank arsenal in Detroit on July 4, 1942. They are armed with 75mm and 37mm cannon and several machine guns. Finishing touches are put to lines of tank while on left preparations are made for yet another extension of the already colossal factory. (AP Photo)
