Higsons Best Bitter beer mat. Photographed on 4 April 2026. Higson's was a historic Liverpool brewing name, strongly associated with Merseyside pubs and bitter before the original brewery business disappeared through later ownership changes. Surviving beer mats and branded ephemera are therefore useful records of a regional brewery identity that is no longer encountered in the same form. Higsons Best Bitter beer mat belongs to the licensed-trade and brewing culture associated with United Kingdom, where brewery names, pump clips, glassware, menus and pub branding can change quickly. The hospitality context of Higsons Best Bitter beer mat records how beer, food or drinks were presented to customers, adding commercial and social-history detail to the image.
