. Queensferry Town Centre Project sign beside the Forth Bridge at South Queensferry, Scotland, UK. Photographed on 27 June 2026. The recorded location is South Queensferry, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. The image combines local regeneration or public-realm information with one of Scotland's best-known engineering landmarks and is suitable for editorial use on South Queensferry, civic investment, town-centre projects, tourism, transport heritage and the Firth of Forth waterfront. Within the history of engineering heritage, bridge construction combines engineering, navigation, geology and maintenance, while landmark structures frequently become symbols of the places they serve. In relation to street furniture, historical context shows that signs are functional pieces of graphic design that organise movement and communicate rules, names or destinations; Lettering, symbols, colours and materials can date public space as clearly as architecture, particularly when organisations rebrand or regulations evolution. Against the 2026 backdrop for engineering heritage, large modern crossings also form part of debates about transport capacity, carbon, tolling and the long-term value of major infrastructure investment. As of 2026, the position for street furniture is that digital maps and smartphone navigation are ubiquitous, but physical signage remains essential for safety, accessibility, legal restrictions and visitors without reliable connectivity.
