. Passengers boarding a TCL Metro Line D train in Lyon, with platform information showing services through the city's rapid-transit network. The train's rounded cab end and open platform doors are clearly visible, while passengers further along the platform establish the service as active and in use. A TCL Metro Line D train stands at a Lyon platform as passengers board, with the destination display and platform edge creating a clear operational view of the city's automated rapid-transit system. Line D crosses central Lyon and is a heavily used part of the TCL network, connecting important interchange stations and residential districts on opposite sides of the city. The silver train, wide doors and level platform illustrate the high-capacity, frequent-stop design of urban metro services, where quick boarding and alighting are essential to maintaining short headways. Electronic passenger information above the platform gives waiting travellers live service details, a routine but important part of making unfamiliar networks usable for visitors as well as regular commuters. Lyon combines metro lines with trams, buses and funiculars under the TCL identity, so this scene sits within a wider integrated public-transport system rather than an isolated railway. Editorial applications include automated metros, French transport, sustainable mobility, public infrastructure, urban commuting, passenger information, city tourism and investment in alternatives to private-car travel. Platform boarding photographs document dwell time, passenger information and the interface between train and station, all central to the capacity of a metro line. Automated operation can support frequent service patterns, but station design and crowd movement remain physical constraints that technology alone cannot remove. The illuminated destination display is an important wayfinding aid for passengers who may be changing between metro lines or travelling as visitors.
