Festival Lent, Maribor, Slovenia, June 28, 2014. Japanese traditional art does not only consist of kabuki, tea rituals, haikus and geishas. An important part of the Japanese tradition are taiko drums that are played on special occasions – birth and death, special celebrations etc. The drums must be treated with care because they are offer shelter to supernatural beings and are therefore not meant for expressing bad emotions. Balanced and correct drumming is very important - only then strong energy is released. SANYO Daiko Dan is a group of young Japanese from Hiroshima who has been devoted to the art of drumming for many years.
