Informations supplémentaires:
Hong Kong's electric power station, with its three distinctive chimney stacks, is located on a 0.5 square kilometre site at Po Lo Tsui, south of Yung Shue Wan, on Lamma Island. Coal from mainland China is unloaded from ocean-going vessels at a jetty alongside the plant. Gas is also imported by pipeline from mainland China. Since 2005 the coal-burning plant has featured a gas turbine to avoid a total 6.5 million tonnes carbon dioxide emissions by 2012. Hong Kong Electric is also installing a flue gas desulphurisation system to further clean up the plant. Lamma Power Station has being supplying all power to Hong Kong Island since 1990. This evening shot of the power station and surrounding China Sea, looking west towards the large Lantau Island, is taken from the 250m high peak of Ling Kok Shan, to the east of Sok Kwu Wan.
