The Porte de Gand (Gent Gate) was one of the main entrance of Lille (or Rijsel) till the XIXth century. It was built by the Spanish in 1620 (Raoul as architect) , and included further within the fortification system imagined by Vauban (Louis the Fourteenth period). It has been been totally restaured in 2004. This is, with the Porte de Roubaix (Roubaix Gate) an important witness of the prestigious history of Lille. Lille Europe Railway Station (SNCF) is the heart of the important high speed train network (Paris, London, Brussels, Eurostar, TGV). It is located in the center of the financial and trading complex called Euralille (Word Trade Center, WTC, banks, head offices.
