Informations supplémentaires:
Elevated view along a curving platform at York railway station, where a Northern-branded diesel multiple-unit passenger train stands beneath the station’s sweeping nineteenth-century roof. The train is identified in the supplied record as unit 150101, a Class 150 Sprinter used on regional rail services. People stand and walk on the station platform beside the train, while dark iron ribs, supporting columns and glazed roof panels create repeated arches across the length of the building. The station is a major northern England railway interchange serving regional services and long-distance routes. Its distinctive curving layout and iron-and-glass architecture illustrate how important Victorian railway engineering remains within the modern passenger network. The foreground shows the operational side of railway travel, including rolling stock, platform access and passenger circulation. This picture can illustrate coverage of regional rail investment, rolling-stock accessibility, diesel trains, station maintenance, passenger service reliability, public transport policy and the balance between heritage conservation and modernisation. The roof frames the train and platform. The close relationship between train and platform also conveys the way a busy historic terminus or through station is adapted to current passenger use. Historic stations of this scale demand ongoing maintenance to preserve roofing, drainage, glazing and structural components while keeping passenger services operating. Station users share the platform with practical equipment such as waiting furniture, signage and columns, all arranged beneath the original roof geometry. The high vantage point allows the viewer to compare the proportions of the train, people and overhead ironwork. The modern Sprinter train appears relatively small beneath the long sequence of structural ribs, emphasising the scale of York’s nineteenth-century station roof.
