Framed zero-tolerance drugs notice displayed in pub toilets, warning customers that the area is checked regularly and that anyone caught with drugs will be barred and banned from the premises. The sign reflects a wider response across pubs, bars and other licensed venues to concerns about cocaine and other illegal drug use within the night-time economy, particularly in toilets where consumption can be concealed from staff and other customers. Current approaches increasingly combine prominent warning signage with regular toilet inspections, trained door staff, incident logging, CCTV in permitted public areas, confiscation procedures, liaison with police and Pubwatch-style exclusion schemes. In some areas police and licensing teams have also used drug residue testing and portable drug itemisers around pubs and clubs, reinforcing the message that venues are expected to take visible preventative action rather than simply react after an incident. The social issue extends beyond possession itself: cocaine use in nightlife settings is linked with concerns around dealing, intimidation, anti-social behaviour, staff safety, customer welfare and the wider challenge of keeping town and city centres safe after dark. Shared bans between participating premises can mean someone excluded from one venue may also be barred elsewhere, creating a stronger collective deterrent. The stark black-and-white wording in this image makes that approach explicit, combining regular checks with immediate exclusion. It is also a reminder of the pressures faced by licensees balancing customer experience, legal responsibilities, licence conditions and crime prevention. The photograph provides a direct editorial illustration of how the licensed trade is responding to drug misuse, cocaine culture, public safety concerns and changing expectations around responsible management of pubs and nightlife venues in the UK. It also reflects wider community concern over drug-related harm
