A beautiful barn owl soaring. County Durham, UK: THESE DETAILED images show a barn owl up close and personal as it flies right over the head of one lucky photographer. One sensational shot shows the barn owl flying directly at the photographer who had to hide to capture these images. Barn owls are the most widely distributed species of owl in the world, growing up to 15 inches in length with a wing span of 37 inches. They can weigh up to 555 grams. These images were captured by joiner and photographer Bryan Walker (53) in County Durham using a Nikon Z9 camera. ?I had to wear a full ghillie suit so I was well camouflaged in the hedge line, ? said Bryan. ?I?d been photographing the owls hunting for a good hour when it decided to fly straight over the top of me. ?It?s extremely rewarding getting shots like this as they take a lot of time and patience. ?It was a great experience when the owl flew within about eight feet off me and went straight over my head. ?I was well pleased with the shots as I?ve photographed owls before but never had them hunting so close.? mediadrumimages/BryanWalker
