A close aerial drone photograph with the Old Louisiana State Capitol — Baton Rouge's remarkable Gothic Revival government "castle" — as the primary subject, set against the backdrop of the downtown Baton Rouge skyline including the Louisiana State Capitol tower rising prominently at center, and the Mississippi River visible at upper left. The Old State Capitol's white-painted masonry towers, battlements, and green copper dome sections are beautifully detailed in this perspective, while the Art Deco State Capitol tower in the background creates a dramatic temporal juxtaposition — nearly a century separates these two extraordinary Louisiana government buildings. The formal grounds of the Old State Capitol include brick pathways and ornamental plantings. The building's dramatic silhouette against the city skyline makes this one of the definitive aerial images of historic Baton Rouge, combining the city's two most architecturally significant public buildings in a single frame.
