Feb. 02, 1967 - Russia's top interpreter looks at a picture which takes him back 25 years.: Viktor Sukhodrev, Russia's top interpreter in English - the man who has been going everywhere with Mr. Kosygin, yesterday looked at a picture which took him back a quarter of a century. Viktor, now 34, was at school in British between the ages of 6 and 12. His mother worked as a secretary of the Russian Trade Mission in London. In the flat above them in Carlington Road, Hampstead, lived postman Walter Holloway - ''Uncle Jack'' to young Viktor - and his wife Catherine. They looked after Viktor when his mother was at work. Mr. Holloway - now aged 70 and living in retirement at Ryde, Isle of Wight - took pictures of Viktor - including the one hes is looking at. He dug the photographs out after reading in a newspaper about Viktor, the brilliant interpreter who has helped to make Mr. Kosygin's visit a success. Viktor Sukhodrev was delighted when shown the photographs. Pointing to a Tommy-Gun he was carrying in the picture of himself, he said ''I was the envy of all boys in the road with that gun. Uncle Jack made it for me from a piece of gas piping, a tin can and part of an old chair back. He even put a little motor inside which gave it a very authentic ''click-click-clicking sound. '' I took the gun back to Russia with me. Now is belongs to my 11 year old son, Sergei. ''The tin hat I'm wearing was the one Uncle jack wore in the First World War. he stuck a Red Star on the front of it - and I felt very proud.:. On Saturday night Viktor spoke to ''Uncle jack'' on the telephone. ''I wish it had been possible for them both to come to London.'' he said. Later Viktor went to Hampstead and stood on the pavement outside hid old home. Photo shows the man of today meets the boy of 25 years ago: Viktor looking at Uncle Jack's snapshot in London yesterday.
