FAW-Toyota on Monday (24 January 2011) rolled out its 2 millionth vehicle in Tianjin. The joint venture between Chinese automaker FAW and worlds largest carmaker Toyota started auto production in 2002. Its annual production capacity has risen from 30, 000 cars in 2002 to current 520, 000. Toyota sold 8.42 million vehicles globally in 2010, remaining the worlds top automaker for the third year straight despite recall woes in the key North American market. Its global sales, including truckmaker Hino Motors Ltd and Daihatsu Motor Co, which makes small cars, rose 8 per cent from 2009, driven by solid sales growth in China and other Asian nations, the Japanese manufacturer said. Toyota vehicle sales jumped 19 per cent in China and 24 per cent in other Asian nations, according to Toyota.
