Informations supplémentaires:
Amsterdam De Oude Kerk, The Old Church is the city’s oldest surviving building. Founded 1213 and consecrated in 1306 by the bishop of Utrecht with Saint Nicolas as its patron saint. After the Reformation in 1578 it became a Calvinist church, which it remains today. It stands in De Wallen, now Amsterdam's main red-light district. The square surrounding the church is the Oudekerksplein; the bridge is the Oudekerksbrug (Old Church Bridge) and the canal the Oudezijds Voorburgwal Canal. [www.oudekerk.nl/en/] - In 1887 a new Roman Catholic Church of St Nicholas was build 250m north from here, bordering the same canal: Now the Basilica of Saint Nicholas (Dutch: Sint-Nicolaasbasiliek or as many still call it Sint Nicolaaskerk). It's visible on the right hand side of the frame and as a reflection in the still waters of the canal just under the bridge.
