Beverley Westwood is an open space on the edge of Beverley, it is an ideal area for families to enjoy. Cattle and sheep roam freely grazing on the pastures throughout the summer months.The Westwood was given to the townspeople by the Lord of the Manor in 1380, and today locals still hold rights to graze cattle and sheep, an activity controlled by a committee known as the pasture masters. On the north side is Beverley Racecourse, which dates to 1690.Buttercups are a large genus of flowering plants called Ranunculus. It has yellow, shiny, petals, and grows wild in many places. It is poisonous to eat for humans and cattle, but when dry the poison is not active.
