Turkey, Gobekli Tepe
Informations supplémentaires:
At first sight, Gobekli Tepe was impressive but perhaps nothing special it consists of a mass of monoliths with gracious carvings mostly of animals. It was construed to be some sort of temple made by people we know virtually nothing of. It was only when dating was done that the archaeological world (and us in general) were in for a major surprise: the site was dated back to what is called the "pre-pottery Neolithic" that is up to X Century BCE, that is before the age of cities and towns when mankind was nomadic and the life-style that of hunter-gatherers. The immense surprise of Gobekli Tepe therefore was to show that nomadic or at least semi-nomadic humankind had contrived to build a "temple" before the advent of sedentary forms of society. Which also means that (presumably, because of the numbers of people that had to be involved) different groups of hunter-gatherers came together and shared not only a vision but agreed to work together over a long period for that common vision.
